To avoid these. one must know where to create buffers, and how much buffers needed to handle the uncertainties.
For example, If you find that you don’t know how to deal with ad-hoc tasks, make sufficient time as a buffer before the day begin. Allocating time for handling ad-hoc tasks, make you stress free as you know you have set aside the time to handle such tasks. Remaining time, you can execute your planned tasks. This will save both your time and planned tasks.
Depending only few people in team and their availability is a stress to running business. Hence creating suitable team buffer (bench strength or cross skilled employees) helps you to come out of issues such as regular absenteeism and attrition.
How much buffer you need is something only you could find out based on the realities. But it is not constant always. Be ready to change as and when it is required.
